Leviticus 22:7-9

New International Version

⁷ When the sun goes down, he will be clean, and after that he may eat the sacred offerings, for they are his food.^{(A) 8} He must not eat anything found dead^(B) or torn by wild animals,^(C) and so become unclean^(D) through it. I am the Lord.^(E)

⁹ “‘The priests are to perform my service^(F) in such a way that they do not become guilty^(G) and die^(H) for treating it with contempt. I am the Lord, who makes them holy.^(I)
